Things to do in Innerleithen

Mountain Biking

Innerleithen has been hailed as Bike Mecca. The town has one of the best down hill tracks in the country and part of the 7stanes covering 20km of black graded trails plus bike park. Uplift service available. Glentress has superb cross country tracks which is only 4 miles along the main road from Innerleithen which is also part of the 7stanes.

Walking

Innerleithen has many splendid walks, along the banks of the River Tweed, over the rolling Border hills taking in points of interest such as Eli Bank Castle and the Cheese Well, Minch Moor which is on the Southern Upland Way. Guided walks can be arranged, as can drop off's and pick ups so that you can make the most of your time in the Scottish Borders.

Golf

Innerleithen has a great 9 hole golf course which can be challenging, set in the Leithen valley and is a par 70, non members are welcome. Cardrona is a 18 hole championship course and is only 4 miles away. Peebles and Galashiels also have great courses as do most of the small Border towns. Infact it is a golfers dream!


Pony Trekking

Pony trekking can be booked in advance, take in the scenery of the Border hills from horse back. Rides for experienced, beginners and novices can be arranged.

Fishing

Salmon or trout depending on the time of year the River Tweed permits can be bought in advance.



Innerleithen Music Festival

14th to 16th of August a fabulous weekend for music lovers, guaranteed to serve up a great line up of stars from the folk scene.


History

Smails printing works - which is part of the National Trust
Traquair House - The oldest inhabited house in Scotland dating back to 1107, open Easter to the end of November.
Kailzie gardens - Ospreys can be watched from the kailzie gardens, there is also a restaurant, and beautiful gardens to roam around.
Neidpath castle
Abbotsford house in Galashiels was the home of Sir Walter Scott
there are four Abbeys in the Borders Melrose, Jedburgh, Kelso and Dryburgh and are all worth a visit.
